This Confidentiality & Disclaimer page explains general confidentiality expectations and important limitations related to mediation, facilitation, conflict coaching, restorative practices, communication support, digital resources, and related services provided by Grace by BBT LLC.

This page is intended to provide general information. It does not replace any signed Agreement to Mediate, confidentiality agreement, service agreement, court order, agency requirement, applicable law, or jurisdiction-specific rule that may apply to a specific matter.

2. Confidentiality in Mediation

Mediation is a private process. During mediation sessions, Grace by BBT™ treats mediation communications as confidential to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, court rule, agency rule, mediation agreement, or service agreement.

Mediation communications are intended to be shared without prejudice for purposes of the mediation process. This generally means that statements made for purposes of mediation are not intended to be used later in court or another legal setting, unless all required participants agree, a signed written agreement allows it, or disclosure is required or permitted by applicable law.

Confidentiality may vary depending on the type of matter, the client’s location, the location of the dispute, whether a case is court-connected, the court or agency involved, and the state or jurisdiction whose rules apply.

3. Confidentiality Is Not Absolute

While confidentiality is an important part of mediation and conflict resolution, it is not absolute.

Exceptions may include, but are not limited to:

Threats of harm to self or others
Suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation
Safety concerns involving children, vulnerable adults, or other participants
Fraud or criminal activity
Court orders, subpoenas, or legal process
Mandatory reporting obligations
Signed written agreements
Situations where disclosure is required or permitted by applicable law
Situations where disclosure is necessary to protect rights, safety, or property

Grace by BBT™ may disclose information when required or permitted by law, court rule, agency rule, professional obligation, safety concern, or signed agreement.

4. No Audio or Video Recording

Grace by BBT™ does not keep audio or video recordings of mediation sessions.

Participants may not audio record, video record, livestream, screenshot, transcribe, or otherwise capture any mediation, facilitation, conflict coaching, restorative practices, consultation, or related session without prior written permission from Grace by BBT™ and all required participants.

Unauthorized recording may result in the session being paused, ended, or declined.

5. Limited Recordkeeping

Grace by BBT™ does not keep a transcript of what is said during mediation sessions.

Grace by BBT™ may maintain limited administrative and business records, such as:

Intake forms
Scheduling records
Payment records
Signed agreements
Attendance information
Service notes
Correspondence
Final written agreements
Memoranda of understanding
Settlement summaries
Digital product purchase records
Records required for tax, legal, business, professional, or safety purposes

These records are maintained only as reasonably necessary for business, legal, tax, accounting, professional, safety, service-related, or compliance purposes.

6. Written Agreements and Documents

When participants reach an agreement, Grace by BBT™ may prepare or assist with preparing a written summary, memorandum of understanding, parenting plan summary, settlement summary, or other non-legal document reflecting the participants’ stated agreements.

Grace by BBT™ does not guarantee that any written document will be accepted by a court, agency, attorney, organization, or third party.

Participants are encouraged to have any proposed agreement reviewed by an attorney or other qualified professional before signing, filing, relying on, or submitting it to a court, agency, employer, school, or other organization.

7. No Legal Advice or Legal Representation

Grace by BBT™ does not provide legal advice, legal representation, legal strategy, legal document drafting as an attorney, or legal opinions.

Information provided by Grace by BBT™ is for general educational, communication, preparation, and dispute resolution purposes only.

Grace by BBT™ does not act as an attorney, does not represent either participant, does not advocate for one side, and does not decide legal rights.

Participants should consult with an attorney in their state or jurisdiction regarding legal rights, court procedures, legal documents, custody, child support, divorce, separation, property division, employment law, contracts, estate matters, or any other legal issue.

8. No Therapy or Mental Health Treatment

Grace by BBT™ does not provide therapy, psychotherapy, mental health diagnosis, mental health treatment, crisis counseling, clinical counseling, custody evaluations, psychological evaluations, or medical advice.

Mediation, facilitation, restorative practices, and conflict coaching may involve difficult conversations, but they are not substitutes for therapy, mental health treatment, or crisis support.

Participants experiencing a mental health emergency, domestic violence concern, safety risk, abuse, neglect, suicidal thoughts, or immediate danger should contact emergency services, a qualified crisis provider, law enforcement, a domestic violence hotline, or another appropriate professional resource.

9. No Financial, Tax, or Business Advice

Grace by BBT™ does not provide financial advice, tax advice, investment advice, accounting advice, valuation services, or business legal advice.

Any discussion involving finances, budgeting, property, debts, business concerns, support obligations, or financial responsibilities is for communication and issue-identification purposes only.

Participants should consult with a qualified financial professional, tax professional, accountant, attorney, or other appropriate advisor before making financial, tax, legal, or business decisions.

10. Neutrality and Self-Determination

Grace by BBT™ provides services as a neutral facilitator of communication. Grace by BBT™ does not take sides, make decisions for participants, force agreements, determine who is right or wrong, or impose outcomes.

Participants remain responsible for their own decisions, agreements, next steps, and whether to accept, reject, revise, or seek professional review of any proposed solution.

Mediation and related services are based on self-determination, voluntary participation where applicable, informed decision-making, respectful communication, and practical problem-solving.

11. No Guarantee of Outcome

Grace by BBT™ does not guarantee any specific outcome, agreement, settlement, court result, parenting arrangement, workplace result, school result, organizational result, relationship result, business result, financial result, or resolution.

The success of mediation, facilitation, restorative practices, conflict coaching, and related services depends on many factors, including participant readiness, good-faith participation, communication, preparation, applicable law, safety, complexity of the dispute, and willingness to explore options.

Payment for services does not guarantee that an agreement will be reached.

12. Jurisdiction-Specific Rules

Grace by BBT LLC is based in Maryland. However, mediation confidentiality, privilege, court-connected mediation requirements, family mediation rules, dispute resolution procedures, and related standards may vary by state, court, agency, jurisdiction, and case type.

For services involving parties, disputes, courts, organizations, or legal matters outside Maryland, applicable rules may depend on:

The client’s location
The location of the dispute
The jurisdiction of any pending case
The type of matter
Whether the mediation is private or court-connected
Any court, agency, employer, school, or organizational rules that apply

Grace by BBT™ may adjust, limit, pause, decline, or discontinue services when jurisdiction-specific requirements, safety concerns, professional limitations, or legal/therapeutic/financial issues make the matter inappropriate for the services offered.

13. Digital Products and Educational Resources

Grace by BBT™ may offer digital products, downloadable resources, workbooks, guides, templates, worksheets, videos, courses, blog posts, and educational materials.

These materials are provided for educational and informational purposes only. They are not legal advice, therapy, mediation, mental health treatment, financial advice, or a substitute for individualized professional services.

Use of digital products or educational resources does not create a mediator-client relationship, attorney-client relationship, therapist-client relationship, fiduciary relationship, or any other professional relationship beyond the specific services agreed to in writing.

14. Website Information

Information on this website is provided for general informational and educational purposes. While Grace by BBT™ works to keep information accurate and current, website content may not reflect the most current legal, court, agency, professional, or jurisdiction-specific requirements.

15. Emergency and Safety Concerns

Grace by BBT™ is not an emergency service, crisis service, law enforcement agency, mental health crisis provider, domestic violence shelter, or emergency legal service.

If you are experiencing immediate danger, threats, abuse, neglect, domestic violence, suicidal thoughts, or another urgent safety concern, contact emergency services or an appropriate crisis resource immediately.

Grace by BBT™ may decline, pause, or end services when safety concerns, coercion, intimidation, incapacity, abuse, bad-faith participation, or other concerns make the process inappropriate.
